Participants from Grimsby Town Foundation’s Fairplay sessions at Immingham, West Marsh, and Centre4 came together for a Fairplay League event hosted at YMCA, Clee Fields on Friday evening.

The event, which has been the largest Fairplay gathering of the year, saw around 30 participants representing their respective academies.

The Fairplay project aims to increase diversionary sporting activity provision in two areas of Northeast Lincolnshire by increasing sessions at existing providers, culminating in a Fairplay League day involving young people from each area coming together for a team football tournament.

Young People are diverted to the activity through local schools, Youth Justice and the YPSS outreach team.

The competition started with group stage matches, followed by knock-out rounds, bringing an exciting and competitive atmosphere to the evening.

In addition to the Fair Play academies, several other teams from around the town were also represented, showcasing the diversity and inclusivity of the event.

The matches, played under the lights at the impressive new Clee Fields facility, were of high quality, highlighting the talent and enthusiasm of the participants.

The event was a resounding success, according to Jason Land, Head of Inclusion, who expressed his gratitude to YMCA Humber for hosting the event at such a fantastic venue.
