Tesco Stronger Starts Funding Supports Disability Sports Sessions

Over the summer, Grimsby Town Foundation were fortunate to receive £1,000 in funding from the Tesco Stronger Starts program, which has already had a significant impact on our disability football sessions.

The Tesco Stronger Starts Programme supports thousands of local community projects and good causes across the UK. From providing schools food for breakfast clubs or supporting an after-school club to providing organisations with equipment for indoor and outdoor activities, this funding helps organisations in a variety of ways.

This generous contribution has allowed us to purchase much-needed equipment to enhance the experience for our disability participants and improve the quality of our training.

With the funding, we invested in:

Music speaker – to keep the energy high and motivate participants during training sessions.

Footballs – to ensure all participants have the resources they need to improve their skills.

A giant tactics board – to help our coaches visually explain game strategies and team formations.

Top bins nets – designed to improve shooting accuracy and add a fun challenge to our drills.

First aid bag – to ensure safety and quick responses in case of any minor injuries.

Brightly coloured bibs – to differentiate teams during practice sessions to help with our visual impaired participants.

The addition of this equipment has already made a noticeable difference in the sessions. Participants are not only more engaged, but are also benefiting from the improved tools that enhance their learning and enjoyment of the sport.

The new equipment, particularly the speaker, has added an exciting element to our sessions, creating a lively atmosphere that keeps everyone focused and energised. The top bins nets are already proving to be a popular tool, helping participants sharpen their shooting precision in a fun and challenging way.

Travis, one of our enthusiastic participants, expressed his appreciation for the new equipment, saying, “Thanks to Tesco for the equipment. This will help us with our training. The speaker will help motivate us, and the top bins nets will really help with our accuracy.”

Jason Land, Head of Inclusion at the Foundation, added, “Overall, the support from Tesco Stronger Starts has been invaluable, allowing us to run our disability sessions with higher-quality resources and ensuring that all participants can engage with the training in a more meaningful and enjoyable way.”

“We are deeply grateful to Tesco for their generosity and are excited to see the continued positive impact this equipment will have on our sessions.”

This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long-term positive change for our participants, providing them with better tools to grow and succeed in Football.
