Women’s First Team Players Beth Wharton and Lily Jacklin recently represented Grimsby Town Football Club at the N.E. Lincs council’s YOUnique awards hosted by the Our Voice Listen Up group.
The YOUnique awards celebrated the talents of the incredible children and young people in the care system in the local community.
Grimsby Town Football Club were the first business to sign up to the council’s foster-friendly scheme towards the back end of last season.
Since being announced as the first fostering friendly business, the Club have hosted foster carers and local foster-friendly businesses for a business brunch event and arranged for a young person to meet the players and backroom staff.
Beth and Lily were in attendance to present the Rising Star – Impactful Journey awards in two age categories, for those who are making the most progress in their education, training or employment.
Northeast Lincolnshire Council’s Children’s Services Director, Ann-Marie Matson, who is also a trustee on the board of the Foundation said, “It was also great to see the football clubs support of our recent Unique Awards that celebrated the talents of our incredible children and young people.”
