SEND Football Teams Shine at First Friendly Festival

Grimsby Town Foundation’s SEND football programme celebrated a memorable milestone on Saturday 20th June as our SEND Comets Under-12s and Disability Recreation Centre Under-16s took part in their first-ever friendly football festival at Clee Fields.

The festival brought together teams from across Lincolnshire for an afternoon of football, fun and friendship, with our players facing opposition from Louth Infinity, Barrowby FC, Wright Way Sport (Gainsborough), Jacks Community Soccer School and Grimoldby FC.

For many of our participants, the event marked their first experience of playing multiple matches in a single day. For some, it was also the first opportunity to represent their team in a competitive football environment, making it an incredibly special occasion for everyone involved.

There was even more reason to celebrate as one of our Under-16 sides completed the afternoon unbeaten, producing an excellent series of performances to finish the festival without defeat.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for players to continue developing their football skills while building confidence in a welcoming, inclusive environment that celebrated participation and enjoyment above all else.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Amanda from Louth Infinity for organising such a fantastic event. Opportunities like these play a vital role in providing meaningful football experiences for young people with SEND and disabilities, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in making the day such a success.

Finally, thank you to all of our players, coaches, volunteers and families for their continued support. Days like these would not be possible without your commitment and encouragement.
