Grimsby Town Foundation is delighted to announce that our summer Camps, in partnership with Kellogg’s, have been a huge success!
Over the summer holidays, we welcomed 396 participants to five different locations across the region to ‘play in the footsteps of their heroes’.
The Kellogg’s Football Camps were the best way for local boys and girls to enjoy their football, and to support parents in keeping their kids active and entertained during the school summer holidays.
Each of our courses ran for three days, in which participants got involved in a range of activities, from classic warm-up games like Bulldog, to passing, shooting and defending practices.
Every day the children were also able to participate in small-sided matches or tournaments to bring out their competitive sides.
The final day of each camp was all about skills challenges and presentations. The participants tested themselves against their friends in various challenges to accumulate points, with the winning total of points across each age group earning a prize.
Trophies were handed out for the winners of the skills challenges, as well as players’ player and coaches’ player, with every participant receiving a Kellogg’s Summer Camp participation certificate and badge.
We are very grateful to have had visits from some of the Grimsby Town First Team players at various camps, taking part in Q&A’s, as well as getting involved in some of the activities and also handing trophies out and signing plenty of certificates.
Charles Vernam, Cameron Gardner and Lewis Cass came to Clee Fields, while Curtis Thompson made an appearance at Caistor and Charles Vernam made a second appearance at Louth on the final day of the camps.
Foundation Coach Mark Westerby summed up the summer and said, “I feel the summer was a real success. It was amazing to see so many young people on the courses, being active and enjoying their football with some of their GTFC heroes also watching over them.”
Keep an eye out on our social media for our next half-term camps which take place in October.
