We are pleased that Corinthians Walking Football Club has agreed to partner with the Grimsby Town Foundation in an exciting crossover aiming to shine the light on walking football in the local area.

Last week, the partnership was launched in fitting style as Corinthians Walking Football Club were invited to Blundell Park to play on the hallowed turf, with around 35 players taking part in two exhibition matches.

The event showcased not only the fun and competitive spirit of walking football but also the shared commitment to inclusivity, health, and community engagement that underpins this merger.

The Corinthians have long been recognised for their inclusive approach, providing men and women of all abilities the chance to enjoy the game in a safe, social, and competitive environment at a pace suitable for all ages.

The Grimsby Town Foundation has a strong track record of delivering high-quality community programmes that promote health, wellbeing, education, and social inclusion, making this the perfect collaboration for both parties.

By coming together, we aim to expand opportunities, share resources, and create a stronger pathway for walking football in the region, ensuring the sport continues to grow at every level.

The merger will bring a host of benefits to players, the community, and the town including enhanced facilities, an increase in development pathways to give people more chance of getting involved and to keep everyone fit, healthy and active.

One of the keys aims of the merger is to promote inclusivity and encourage the expansion of sessions for women, mixed teams and people with disabilities to allow the game we all love to be enjoyed by all.

Competitively, Corinthians Walking FC have already got off to a brilliant start in their new GTFC colours, winning the FA Walking Football Cup Midlands Regional Tournament and qualified for the National Walking Football Finals at St George’s Park on Sunday 2nd November 2025.

“This partnership is about more than football,” said Jason Land, Head of Inclusion at Grimsby Town Foundation.

He added “It’s about health, friendship, and giving people of all ages a sense of belonging. Together, we can create a lasting legacy for the town.”

Corinthians Walking Football added, “Joining forces with Grimsby Town Foundation allows us to reach more people and ensure walking football continues to thrive. The future is very bright for our players and our community.”
