Grimsby Town Foundation and GTFC to take part in Great British Beach Clean

A sandy beach with a pier extending over calm waters. Two people walk along the shoreline under a clear blue sky, as Grimsby Town Foundation and GTFC join the Great British Beach Clean nearby.

Grimsby Town Foundation and GTFC will be taking part in this year’s Great British Beach Clean on Friday and would like Mariners fans to join us!

The Great British Beach Clean is a campaign devised by the Marine Conservation Society to stop harmful litter from reaching the ocean and collect vital data to bring about positive change for our seas.

With Blundell Park being no more than a couple of hundred meters away from Cleethorpes beach, we wanted to get involved in Friday’s initiative and a make positive difference to our area, as Grimsby Town Foundation’s Community Director, Mike Thompson, explains.

“We at Grimsby Town Foundation are thrilled to support the Marine Conservation Society with the Great British Beach Clean this coming Friday.

“Our community’s connection to the coast is part of who we are, and protecting our beaches is essential for the wellbeing of both our environment and future generations.

“By coming together and volunteering for this cause, we not only preserve our beautiful coastline but also inspire positive change, promoting sustainability and a sense of pride in our local area.

“We want Mariners supporters to join us this Friday 27th September for the beach clean, wearing their club colours. It will be great to see people in black and white making a positive difference to our community.”

The clean will be taking place between 10am-12noon, with the meeting point being on the beach below Darracotte’s Ice Cream Shop & Coffee Parlour – next to Cleethorpes Pier.

This event is open to all ages, but please note that under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
