As we begin a brand-new year, we wanted to look back at what Grimsby Town Foundation has achieved as a CCO in 2024.
Whether it’s working in local schools and colleges or delivering sports sessions in various areas of the County, we are out in the community, seven days a week, supporting people across North Lincolnshire and beyond.
Last January, we launched the area’s first ever Emerging Talent Centre for girls and since launching, we have engaged with 192 girls from the local area, including the addition of our new Premier League Kicks participation sessions.
With Education and Employability being at the heart of the Foundation’s current strategic goals, we worked with 13 schools during 2024, which included the delivery of Primary School P.E as well as Breakfast, Lunch and After School clubs.
We also launched our Priority Schools Programme in September, aiming to engage with the schools and pupils that need extra support, utilising our Premier League Primary Stars programme with the help of the Premier League Charitable Fund to deliver engaging PE support and Interventions.
We’ve seen the launch of various new partnerships throughout the year, strengthening our connections within the community. These have included our ‘Chance to Shine’ street cricket sessions with Lincolnshire cricket and ‘Our Zone’ girls’ sessions with YMCA Humber.
We’ve also seen the renewal of our partnership with Franklin College with our scholarship programme, which included the launch of the girl’s programme that started in September last year. Back in May, our 19s team were crowned EFL CFA NECL1 Champions which is a testament to the work that goes on between the Foundation and Franklin College.
We’ve also seen the continuation of our sports and football coaching degrees alongside the University of South Wales flourish.
Participation is another one of the four themes linked to our strategy, highlighting the importance of making sports and activity accessible for all, including women, ethnic minorities, disabled individuals and those from disadvantaged areas.
To continue the work with our links to disability football, we announced the merger between the Foundation and Grimsby Town Ability Counts FC. The merger aims to broaden these opportunities, drawing on the Foundation’s extensive resources, coaching expertise, and community outreach programmes. We’ve also launched of the new ‘Comets’ sessions with the FA and England Football aimed at SEND children.
We also ran 27 different Holiday courses throughout the duration of the year, with 10 of those being in partnership with Kellogg’s, encouraging young people to follow in the footsteps of their heroes.
In total across our evening provisions and holiday camps, we supported over 2,600 participants, with more than 1,000 being young females who want to play the beautiful game.
We look forward to seeing what 2025 has in store for us!
